![]() Her urge to invent and exaggerate is tempered by a deep dedication to the medium at hand. In her words: “Stacee Kalmanovsky’s work is rooted in the uncanny, suggestive, and picturesque. You can definitely see that this piece was made very simple, with fishing lines, plastic beads and a good deal of time were the core elements it took to create this. I can just imagine the shock to the senses when you first see it. It is very unique because where is the last place you would expect to find rain? Indoors, of course, which makes this massive and well-executed rain art installation by Stacee Kalmanovsky. By contrast, people can walk through this controlled space and see, feel and push each individual drop of rain. One I came across online is similar to one I have written about in my previous posts, about the rain room, where these artists are so creative to create a way to encounter rain without being outside or being wet. This rain art installation project goes against two basic associations we have with rain: that it falls only on the outside of buildings and that it is always in motion and difficult to see while moving. These works are site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. I find installation art very unique because the piece is made specially for that place or location. I’ve decided to write about different types of installation art because that is what caught my eye more than the other topics mentioned in class. I would definitely recommend this course to every student just to learn and appreciate more about computing and the arts. I enjoyed this class, and learned so much from this course in many ways. I really appreciate art in a whole new way. This class will definitely open my mind to all types of art and bring about the best in my imagination in not only in my creative practices but also my computational thinking in my future works. As I heard once that “when there’s a will, there’s a way”, this is definitely what is on the artists mind when they are creating these master pieces. This class has affected my knowledge of creative practices because it opened my eyes on the many types of art and has me thinking that anything is possible to create no matter how impossible it may sound. I love the world of art, and this class has opened my eyes to that. Without these types of art, art would be just simple paintings on the wall. It opens up the creative mind in people to create things that are “outside the box”. I just think it is amazing to have installation art, processing art, digital or multimedia art, etc. For example, learning about rain and how arts were able to represent rain in a way that we can never experience it regularly. I enjoyed learning about how there are many ways to represent something and make anything possible with art. I have never viewed many different types of art before and I enjoyed every bit of it. Taking this course has definitely changed my perspective and open my eyes on Art. ![]()
